Welcome to our home on the web!

The Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) serves the Northern Virginia region, with 23 member clubs located in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and Alexandria city. The purpose of the FCYFL is to provide participating youth with a healthful, enjoyable leisure time activity, and to foster in them the qualities of sportsmanship, team play, and integrity. Teams from outside the geographic boundaries of Fairfax County may play in the FCYFL as long as they play with a youth club recognized by the FCYFL. For the 2009 season, the FCYFL had over 380 teams, 1,200 coaches,and 7,300 players playing a game that everyone loves!

Our 2010 Season begins with Practice on Monday - August 9, 2010. (Check with your club for times & locations) The "regular" season is usally completed the last weekend in October with only teams eligible for the play-offs continuing to play. Final games (County Championships) are completed by November 14th. Individual clubs may host postseason bowl or invitational games as part of their program.

Football is considered one of the most demanding and rewarding of all little league sports. Therefore, it requires a huge commitment to the program from both player and parent.

Thank you for your interest in FCYFL!!!

FCYFL HEAT ADVISORY NOTIFICATION
by Chairman- FCYFL posted 08/02/2010

 FCYFL HEAT ADVISORY NOTIFICATION

The FCYFL is concerned on the health and well being of all our participants as it relates to heat and humidity in practices and games.

Therefore, on the home page of the FCYFL.ORG website at the top of the page, a “HEAT ADVISORY” notice will be posted by 4:00pm each day. This color-coded system will announce the MINIMUM levels of mandatory cautions to be exercised by each member club. During a heat advisory above code green, coaches must implement the heat precautions as listed. Most of youth sports practices in the various hours of the late afternoon and evening where conditions improve as sunset approaches. When consistently applied, the minimum restrictions set forth in the advisory system will assist everyone in enjoying a safe and productive experience in youth football.

This does not preclude any member commissioner from mandating more restrictions, as they feel necessary with the conditions facing their fields, facilities, and geographical locations where they practice and play games. The application of reasonable judgment is expected whenever conditions change or the situations are not covered by other guidelines.

All commissioners have the responsibility to enforce these notices and to apply all available means necessary to communicate these instructions to their coaches and administrators. Should the heat advisory system not be updated or experience periods of malfunction, all FCYFL commissioners are expected to use reasonable and best judgment, taking the most conservative path to ensure the safety and well-being of all their participants.

Scheduling Policy for Games and Days Involving Religious Holiday
by Carlos O posted 07/14/2010

Scheduling Policy for Games and Days Involving Religious Holidays, Holy Days, Particular Customs and Traditions, That may potentially Affect Participants in FCYFL Activities

FCYFL is proud to serve the youth and adult participants in the Greater Northern Virginia by providing a quality program of sportsmanship, teamwork, skills development, and fun and most importantly a safe environment for all.

FCYFL member clubs provide the league their available space (dates & times) to schedule regular season and playoff games. The league with their available space for games is distributed through the various Parks and Recreation agencies governing the jurisdictions where the clubs are located and area(s) serviced. User space is distributed in conjunction through various matrices and formulas adopted as policy.

The area FCYFL, services is diverse, and is represented by many religions, customs, congestion, and logistical impacts, and some are totally beyond our control. FCYFL game scheduling can not equally recognize, and observe, all the different traditions, logistics and religious customs, by not scheduling games on a particular day, time or at certain locations. We simply can’t be "everything to everyone” trying to honor scheduling requests on a leagues wide club, team and or individual basis. While we would like to try and accommodate everyone’s wishes, we realize the demand for space is greater than facilities available, so we play when and where the parks and recreation agencies tell us too.

The purpose of this bulletin is to advise every family that registers to play football in FCYFL, that playing on these “special days or times” is a very real possibility and to consider what impact, if any, playing would have on your family. Each club is required to inform every registrant of this bulletin so they can make an informed decision as to their participation in youth football. Football is the most rewarding of all the little league sports, but it also requires the most time commitment of all sports regarding practice, game participation and family time.

FCYFL will not change the schedule of games or game times because of these “special” situations, we must schedule games in the space and time provide by the governing agencies. These are personal choices and everyone must make their own decisions as to whether or not to participate. FCYFL is attempting to provide this information as far in advance as possible. Participation or not, effects the players, the coaches and drafting teams in a club. Any questions on this bulletin should be directed to your club.

All participants must have a DMV Issued ID
by posted 06/01/2010

Everyone participating in the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) must have a valid VA DMV ID card in hand for weigh-in.  No other form of ID is acceptable to FCYFL.  This means FCYFL will not accept birth certificates, military IDs, passports or any form of ID other than a VA DMV ID.

For our returning players this is a gentle reminder to check the expiration date on your current ID.  Older versions of the ID expire after 5 years.  For our new players here is a link to the VA DMV website that explains how to obtain a VA DMV ID

Due to security issues, the VA DMV will not issue an ID at the time of application.  These IDs are mailed to your home and the process can take up to 2 weeks.

Have more questions, your weight class co-ordinator will be happy to help.
